Sometimes it takes me a while to figure things out

Long story short:

We own a boat storage property that also has light industrial commercial rentals available. In other words we got space and lots of it. 2 years ago I moved my wood shop/maintenance area and it was a LOT of work. I did this to make it easier to clean up and clear out what had been the main part of the entire property, a boat repair shop. I could rent that space for a LOT more money than the unit I moved into. Unfortunately the repair shop was the main business for the property and I realized a couple days ago that the electricity for half the property is tied into the shop. Separating the shop into it's own meter would be crazy expensive and we cannot afford it right now. So, If I want to have another decent sized shop space available for rent I have to move my shop BACK into the unit it came from. Where I moved it is separately metered. Yep it took me two years to realize I should not have moved my workshop. It was a giant PIA too. Good thing I own a fork lift:smile:.

Are you sure SWMBO didn't help you with the decision? Sometimes the stick must be in the eye before you can see it.

I have been calling it the maintenance shop for a couple years. She told me to cut the crap and call it what it really is, my man cave/toy room. Then it was suggested that I dismantle the workshop all together and we rent out BOTH areas. :bulgy-eyes: Luckily I had the quote from the electrician. That several thousand dollar number cooled her jets. I can keep the workshop and move it back where it was.

BUT IT WILL BE CLEAN:biggrin: Can you remember where things were, or do you plan to reorganize again.
Clean will be odd. Things were set up as a boat repair shop. Very convenient for boat repairs, a nightmare for a wood shop. So a reorganization will have to take place. Plus I will be moving in 2 large tables/workbenches/out feed. I saw a cool island work station set up on a fine woodworking video. All the stationary machines were installed into this island. It looked very efficient and a good use of the space.

There is only one 220 outlet and it is in the worst place imaginable, 12 inches from the back door frame. Any cord plugged into it causes issues with the door. Moving that will be my first job after clearing out the unit. Moving this to a more central location is essential. I have 2 long 220v extension cords and the makings of 3 more but I hate moving them. Since part of the shop will be the metal shop I don't want 220 extension cords snaking all over the place. My welders and plasma cutter are 220 as will be my table saw when and if I can talk the wife into it. Lots to think about and time to think about it.

The space sort of became a catch all for those used parts and items that were too valuable to toss but I did not know what to do with. Guess I have to deal with that stuff now.

Opfoto, you have no idea.
