I have tried a lot of different things over the years. Some worked out well, others not so much. This is something I have seen on Youtube many times and finally got the nerve to try one. SO without further rambling, here is my finished maple burl/acrylic sphere. The first is the yellow one which I made several mistakes on. I should have stabilized the burl prior to doing this but I didn't think about it. The second one has a slight blue tint and came out very nice. The styand is the same on both and is only to bring the sphere up off the surface.

My complements. A sphere is on my list of things to do which keeps getting longer. I'm interested in the foot of the base- looks like natural edge between the points. Correct?

Nice work, Larry !!! . Did you use a special tool (and/or holder) to turn the sphere ?

Those are really cool looking. I have no idea how to turn a sphere and something tells me that I don't have the patience to turn and polish something that looks so perfect!
