A friend of mine in Texas bought one of their systems, he was making gate tops and nice stuff for ranch gates and fences, but I guess he got burned out, (no pun intended) and sold his set up. but there were quite a few doing that sort of work in his part of Texas, it's starting to get that way here, quite a few CNC Routers showing up around here. But I don't think the CNC thing will ever catch on :rolleyes::rolleyes: hey at least it's not punch tape any more:biggrin: Thank Gawd!!!

I got the mailing too. Did we all recently go to a woodworking show? Perhaps that's where they got the mailing list.

If you get any subscriptions, to any kind of shop magazines, hobby magazines. Makes no difference what the subject they will buy the mailing list and use the shotgun approach hope for the .01% that will bite. As been said they are spreading like a rash in this economy, people spending their last hoard of money thinking that they can make a go of it.
They have been doing it for years in the metal work art fields.
it now has been saturated so they are branching out!

Out of curiosity, and since the prices aren't listed on their website, I stuck the name in Google.

PlasmaCAM 4x4 CNC Plasma Cutting System | eBay

Is it really $700k?
Maybe to buy the company!
Last I had heard the complete turn key system was in the neighborhood of $15,000 top of the line. I think they start around $7,000 with out a computer. You will also need a very good ventilation/exhaust system as plasma generates a lot of smoke and fumes.

Their statement about not accessing their email, gives you an idea about the the response, to problems the owners of the equipment might have. It also explains why the people complain about no or slow response to email inquires.

The other thing that would give me pause is their lack of a complete description of what you get for the money. Other than the Red color disclaimer in the statement.

I do know that the only ones that seem to be making money with them already have a metal working shop and have a customer base that can use the service.

I also know that a person that with a good air compressor, plasma cutter and some templates made from Masonite or even cardboard with a little practice can cut anything out of steel. That they can cut the shape into a template. Taking into consideration the minimum plasma cut kerf size. There are limits to the radius and thickness of the material.

Plus it is a lot cheaper to start out with, don't know how many cut outs silhouettes of kitties, puppies, dogs or old fat ladies bending over you can sell to cover the cost and operating expenses!

That person is SMOKING something..........if I remember correctly, they are around $10K, less if you already have a plasma torch (I do) and even less if you have a PC to run the software on (I do, again). You can even put a small router on them and chew up some wood also!!!! Been looking to get something like that when I retire.....there are sooo many toys I'd like to have!!! Don't want to get bored!
