howdy

Not much time in the shop lately, so i treid to catch up on things ive been meaning to do.

Every time skiprat post one of his jigs, i of course run out to duplicate it. Because im ....ah mature, i dont understand why the end results of mine always looks like a pile of pickup sticks, and looks nothing like the one that rotten kid did....:D

So when i do something that actually works ya hoo..!

Ive had Fred's index plate for a while now, but never been able to come up with a system to use it that lasts. After failing agin i was about ot give up when a little voice said "try me" i turned and saw
this little guy waving at me.

its one of those cheap hand drill press

Hmm i said....Took the drill out

then the roto zip yelled " hey me....me....me"

Measured and cut a mounting plate, melted the sides of plexi glass cutting it with hole saw on drill.

Stuck in the zip, with a hose clamp to hold it.

Mounted it on top of my lathe

2007312152155_DSC00932.jpg

set up the plate and drilled away

2007312152259_DSC00933.jpg

filled holes with oak putty to show them.

then the dremel yelled "hey what about me"..
made another mounting plate and

finally something that worked......:D:D

Randy,

Have you ever tried it? Can you hit the mark each time and not have the drill run off somewhere?

I personally cannot even do it perfectly on flat surface...much less a small round rod.

Dario,

Maybe I am missing something, but I think Randy meant why not use the drill in the drill press stand instead of building plates for the other tools.

oops.... another senior moment

Randy forgot to mention, outside of drilling the other thing i was also looking for a steady way to hold and use all the other bits i have with my routers and such. Wanted to do some decorative and /or spiral type turnings. Ill make another plate for my smaller trim router. Other jig im working on is one that will rotate/turn my project sort of my lttle version of the legecy mill thing.

someday it may happen....pete

hmmm light bulb comes on, going to have to do some tinkering and such it looks like, that is a great idea!!

A hand drill requires you to squeeze the trigger and push a button for the drill to stay on a roto zip or dremel just have a switch.

as far as use for milling, accuracy comes to mind as the one I have is very sloppy.
