I went on a binge of my best woods trying for my best pretty wood pen for the bash. It was tough to select my favorite, but in the end chose the Texas Mountain Laurel (mescalbean) because it is fairly unusual, and the color is moderate (not dark and not light). In the end I was happy with my 9th place finish. Here they are: in the Zen one is buckeye and the other two are black Ash, in the clicker they are amboyna, black locust, HRB, and mescalbean. And some better shots of the black locust and HRB by themselves.

Your Mescalbean pen was one of my top 3 pens in the PW contest, partly because it is a rare turning wood & that was an outstanding blank & well done!

All beautiful pens, fabulous work. I second what Edgar said, it was In my top 3 as well. FWIW I think you made the right choice.

That's a beautiful collection of pretty wood pens all well turned and finished. The variety and beauty of wood we have readily available to turn never ceases to amaze me!

Simply superb. Those are all outstanding specimens. Anyone would love to add those to their collection.

Bravo.
