Just when I was about to take a break from the IAP because of some of the posts here I received in todays mail a package from a member. In this package was a couple of high end kits, a couple of home brews and a blank for my beloved (but 2 and 2 :redface:) gators, along with some other things to fill a flat rate box. This member didn't have to send me anything but did so because he/she wanted to. I now remember why I need to step back and see the good here and forget the bad.
So I'm starting a pass it forward small flat rate box and mailing it out today to a member . Lets see how far forward it gets.:smile: In the box will be a note to keep whats in the box but pass another box of your blanks,kits, what ever forward to another member

Great story Roy. I'm glad whoever sent you the package did so in a 'nick of time,' because you and your experience/knowledge would be greatly missed on this site.

Great story Roy, here is another. I recently contacted an IAP vendor for some material in a special color for a razor and shaving brush. He had a close color in the handle blank but not in the bottle blank for the brush. He offered to make a custom batch of PR to exactly match the color I needed. I rapidly agreed and asked him to just let me know the cost and I would PayPal him. A few days later I got an email that the blanks were on the way and not to worry about paying, just remember him when I need more material. I got the blanks yesterday by priority mail and they are perfect. This is what makes this forum special, the people. If I am able to do justice to the blanks, I will post the finished product and the rest of the story.....

Anyway Roy, glad you are sticking around. I certainly need your expert input and inspiration.
 
Roy, I'm glad you are staying, you are one of the ones who has inspired me to reach outside the box and try different materials on my pens
 
That is Awesome Roy! I needed some good news. I'm glad that you will be around to help people and share your wisdom.

You have too much wisdom too offer Roy not to . I'm glad that I was able to be the recipient of some of that awhile back.

I still have a lathe, allthough some would question my ability to use it.

That's a nice story, Roy. I agree with the others, you'd be missed if you stepped aside even for a little while. Your work is an inspiration to many here. Thats such a nice story, I think I will do something for somebody here too that I know helps out quite a few without public credit.
 
Roy I have to say you are a great motivator. Since the last post you did I am trying to remember the name without searching it was something like why stay at IAP. It was a goos long running thread and I think it reached a LOT of members. Since that post about 3 weeks ago I have noticed a better attitude about the forum and it's members. And I do credit that to your motivational post.

THANKS Roy for caring. And please don't go anywhere we can surely all get along some how.

Roy, this is a good story, but got me thinking that the member who sent you the box must have had your address. Now, how are you going to pass it forward and surprise the other member randomly if you don't get their address? And, when you do their going to ask you why.

Most members here are very very sharing. I have traded, given, recieved, etc. MANY boxes from members. I bet Roy has done so with even MORE than me. In fact, I bet Roy has an address book of IAP members that he could easily find a worthy candidate from. One day, after hanging out here long enough, you too will have an addy book filled with "Internet pen friends".

I already have started it, I have been blessed and recipient of their kindness. I don't mention any names here, but I think I have acknowledged their kind giving. I have returned some favors in a small way that I could return. I don't expect anything form anyone, just trying to figure out how to surprise someone w/o them knowing it?
