I bought a sack full of these about 15 years ago and just found them stashed away in a box. Some kind of nut? Feels really solid and is definitely dry after 15 years. Might have to just flatten an end and spin it at about 2000 and hit it with a sharp tool to see what it looks like inside!! Any ideas?? Nickel for size reference.

I am not an expert but I might error on the side of caution and not turn it. To me it looks like a cerbera nut and they are used to make poison. I might be wrong and it might be a regular palm nut.

I would tend to cut the unknown in two on a bandsaw or the like before potentially sending a tool into something spinning that may be hollow.
