Some recent cigar pens. Top and bottom pens are from thrift store wood.
Walnut, oak, padauk
Elm crotch
Madrone burl
Buckeye burl
Endgrain walnut with bronze powder
The bottom pen is endgrain walnut, turned, ebonized, and then bronze powder rubbed into the open walnut grain, CA applied to hold it in place and finished as usual. The bronze powder is very fine, the stuff they use to make gold paint for picture frames. Hard to photograph so the bronze particles show up, and they are hardly visible without very good light.

Darrell, I love looking at your pens! You take CHUBBY to the max very taistfully with a great selection of materials and designs. Very fine work. I enjoy all of them, hard to pic a favorite.

how do they feel to hold and to write with??
Glad they're interesting. The fatter ones weigh a little over 2 ounces, they sure feel nice in the hand and are easy to write with. The wood really does show up better when it's plump!
