I bought another cut off box and these were a couple of the pieces.
I am not 100% sure what species they are.
I think either maple or cherry

Let me know your thoughts. I can say they have some awesome grain.

Pretty sure that #1 is maple; #4 also looks like maple except that it has a greenish cast - but that could just be the lighting in the picture. #2 looks like cherry. Not sure about #3.

My guesses are the same as monophoto's: 1 and 4 look like maple (especially 4) and 2 is cherry.
No. 3 looks like a piece of hickory I've got somewhere. Is No. 3 noticeably heavier, more dense than the others?

Yeah, No 3 is a tad heavier.
