Last Tuesday night as I was getting ready to leave town on business, I was out in the garage/shop doin some last minute stuff when the wife walked out, flipped on the light and freaked! Apparently while wandering around out there barefoot and in the dark, I had scared up a snake...who was now in the middle of the garage and lookin for some place to go. So after brushing up on my children's rhymes and determining it was in fact a coral snake, I figured it had to go before it found one of my dogs.

I know I'm probably gonna regret not skinning him right then and there, but I didn't have time to mess with it, so I threw his carcass in a baggie and put him in the freezer since I was leaving town...now I'm home for two days and leaving again and Still really don't have time to mess with it, but it sure should make a pretty couple of pens! The wife would say he was about 5 feet long but I'm betting he's at least 16".

Anybody feel like messing with it? I'll drop it in the mail to ya in some dry ice and, if it works out, maybe you can share a blank with me...

Maybe a Texas Coral Snake. Unlikely to be the coral snakes that live here and Florida. It's easy enough to tell. The Texas Coral usually has a green band as well as the yellow and red bands.

Since you scared him up for the dark, Texas Coral seems logical as they are nocturnal and MOST of the other snakes there that resemble the Texas Coral are not.
