We have a feeder outside our breakfast area where we eat .... we have a family of hummers that have dinner and breakfast with use every day.
Sometimes they will hover in front of the windows looking in to see us.

... it's difficult to get a good picture through the window...
I took these pictures through a window.

The key to shooting through a window (besides cleaning the glass thoroughly) is to put the camera as close to it as possible. That way, any dirt or imperfection will be out of focus. You also need to shade the glass of any reflections.

I hope that helps,
Eric

Impressive photos! Such sharpness at such high speed!

Our yard has had more hummingbirds this year than ever before; I don't know why. The hummingbirds have been ever-present in our yard, defending their territories and chirping at each other. The hooded orioles arrived recently. They drink from the hummingbird feeders, especially the ones with wide holes.

We had hummingbird nests hatch (two babies per nest) in two different potted trees this year. Both times the babies grew fast, and flew away. It is something we never saw before, despite living here for many years.

I posted photos of the first nest in a thread here, but didn't bother to bore everyone with the second nest. Start with this post, then scroll down the thread for more:
