Inspired by a comment in a recent post... Was making tops with my grand daughter a few years ago when she asked if she could try. I can't say no to her so we did a lesson on safety basics then proceeded to turning. I loosely hold the tool for stability and proper angle while she pushes and pulls to make the cuts. Was very impressed at how well it went and how she really got into it. We've since turned many tops together and now at 8 yo she's learning how to use traditional tools. She's a natural and it's our special thing we enjoy together.
