Ok, I found this guy knocking on our front door. Appears to be a rat snake but wanted to confirm from those who are more knowledgeable about snakes. No, I'm not wanting it for pens... just wanted to see if I should leave alone or get rid of it (if venomous).

Thanks,
Mark

Don't know what the species is, but based on the head shape, it is likely not a venomous snake. Venomous snakes (normally) have triangular-shaped heads.

Thank you for not killing it. It is not venomous. It will keep the mouse poulation at bay. Snakes are good!

Except when I find them coiled a round my thermometer over my work bench... this was from last year ... didn't kill him, just tossed him into the woods behind the house and requested he stay there....
