He said there was a death in the family, that was over a week ago, and that he would be out of town. He also said that he will be back just when the shipment arrives to complete the deal. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
 
I have been trying to contact him for the last two weeks and have not received a response. I may have to contact Paypal as the lack of update and response is very concerning. The internet exists in every corner of the planet and the lack of response from a vendor is unacceptable.
 
I don't know where Smitty is, but recall he may be ill. It's very hard to run a business if you are in a hospital.

Just a possibility---I think Smitty is honest so I expect there will be a reasonable explanation for his apparent "disappearance".

Either a death in the family or an illness is a good reason for not hearing from a vendor . In the case of a death , the last thing that you should be thinking about is whether someone is getting their kits and in the case of an illness you may not be able to get to the internet . In either case even though the internet exists in every corner of the planet these reasons are very acceptable reasons not to use it .

Second, it is already too late for a Paypal refund anyway.

Third, It's important for vendors to keep clients informed with status on "prepaid" group purchases. Unfortunately, I have not had that experience with Smitty. I have had to solicit all information myself.

Fourth, I was really looking forward to the jr. Gents.
 
I receive an Email from Smitty, saying there was a death in the family and he would be back in a week or so. Said the shipment should be there when he get back. I looked up the Email, it was sent on Sept. 15,2010.

As others have said, he has sent regular updates by email to me. The last one did mention a death in the family. I have no doubt we will hear from him soon.

I agree with everyone here. I remember the email on the death in the family.

Smitty runs a fairly robust business on here and eBay. I don't think he will make enough from our group purchase to warrant running away with the money.

I have had no problems with any of Smitty's business interactions. I had a bushing issue with some that I ordered and he was prompt to send me a new set and told me to keep the bad ones and do whatever I wanted with them.

He is taking care of what he has to right now which is family. Being a person that lost a loved one (my father) 4 short moths ago, I can understand why he is not dealing with us right now.

Take care Smitty and let us know when the kits arrive.
 
I guess I was just unlucky and he did not have time to contact me before an unfortunate event happened. I will be patient and he has my condolences.

My recent experiences with customers not receiving email that I sent prompt me to ask if you have checked your spam.

I had two people, this week, tell me I did not email, when I have dated copies of the emails I sent, which were not returned to me as "undeliverable".

In a manner of speaking, Smitty is a competitor, so I certainly don't "carry water" for him, but I do think he tries to be very forthright.

I have been getting regular email updates from him and asked questions and he has always responded. He has kept us very informed on the buy (if your on his list and email is set rite and up to date). I am very happy with the communication. It is taking a LOT longer than I would have hoped but he did not hide the fact the order was coming from over seas. And stuff happens last email I got last night they were shipping today. I've ordered tubes bushings and springs a wile back and got them 2 days later.

I am very pleased with smittys service.

Smitty kindly has sent an e-mail indicating that he's shipping today (9/27) the Jr. Gents V1 that were ordered.
 
Death in the family

Hi All, I had a death in the family and had to leave very suddenly for Iowa where I had no access to a computer. I am home now and anyone waiting for Jr. Gent 1 kits should have gotten an email saying they have been shipped....that is half true...the other half will post tomorrow.

Not to be pickey but I know your name is on the email list for the Jr. Gent 1 kits, and I did send two emails within the week prior to leaving.... You should have gotten an email today saying they are shipping tomorrow. I had too many packages for the mailman to get them all today...

OK.....jeeese.....I am reading thru these posts today because its shitty outside and chilly inside....but nothing much compares to some peoples attitudes..:..I thought you were Innocent till proven Guilty here in USA!!! And for all the negatives....I sure hope you have thought twice now........just my opinion and sticking to it...........

Smitty is a bussiness, nothing wrong with complaining when shipping is late. We complain about CSUSA, PSI, and what have you. Smitty is a big boy, he can take it.

Well I must stand up and say his communication and explanation has been excellent. Yes this did take longer than we all would have like BUT we were aware of that rite from the start. How many of the BIG BOYS give you detailed reasons for delays and so on. Thanks Smitty for the personalized service.
