This operates the same as a standard die holder but it's an ER40 collet chuck that holds taps.
I got tired of dragging the tailstock along while power tapping so I made this...

The big chunk of aluminum clamps in the QCTP and acts as a stop/slide for the ball on the handle. There is absolutely no side to side movement of the tap like there is when you drag an unlocked tailstock along for the ride. With this method I lock the tailstock and everything remains rigid.

I am jealous of your setup. My little jet 9x20 is old and not that great for most type of work.

Interesting solution to the tailstock dilemma.

Very Nice Rick!!! I came across a YouTuber Clough42. He does some amazing things. One thing I want to do someday is his Electronic Lead Screw (no change gears)
