Thought I would try something simple. Think I'm getting better at CA finishing. Hope I haven't spoken too soon. I like this Pen Kit it shows more wood.

Nice looking pen and blank combination. Looks like you are managing a really nice, smooth CA finish there so well done.

Nice work,

I still struggle with CA. Are you micro meshing after multiple coats? I tend to sand through I find. Melamine doesn't have this issue though?

Nice work,

Yes I sand to 600 grit then use Meths to clean off any dust ( and a quick sip ).
I then apply about 6/10 Coates of only Thin CA lathe on slow speed and a quick wipe in both directions little pressure and keep it moving.
Then I sand with Micromesh through all grades again not a lot of pressure you don't want to create heat.
Finally on fast speed I use Burnishing Creame to a high gloss.
I do use CA accelerator some times just a quick puff and with the can 2 feet away just create a mist don't over do it or you will see white marks appearing In fact I try not to use it just wait a few seconds between each coat but make sure its dry.
There's a lot written on this but the above works for.
Hope this helps.
