Sierra Size

Pen kit indexes list the Sierra as being .474 in diameter. That's exactly what my bushings are. The kits vary with the Sierra twist BP being larger than the Sierra elegant beauty twist BP. Both are from the same supplier.

I wonder if the index I'm using is incorrect or is there that much variation from kit to kit?

It is not uncommon to have differences in the same kit, if you use calipers it does not matter what the bushing size is.

Makes you wonder if you should even bother buying bushings. Really, what's the advantage of bushings? Just curious?

Bushings make it easy to get close to finished size. The calipers make the finished size (more or less) perfect.
