it's a plastic woven braid you can buy and often find in clear water lines for kitchen sink sprayers and hookup lines.Very nice. Carbon fiber? Did you make the blank yourself.
John, I do handyman upkeep for 3 daughters homes and our own house (and occasionally for a widow or two in our small home town) and have replaced several water line needs (sink/toilet) with the steel woven lines, but never noticed the plastic ones. Thanks for this. I will look for that in HD or Lowes or my own close by hardware store. Should be cheaper than steel braided ones. That stuff is not easy to find. Any Home Depot around my area does not carry it. It has been awhile since I looked. I may have to take another look when I am in HD. or Lowes. Maybe things changed. Seems I have seen different colors too.it's a plastic woven braid you can buy and often find in clear water lines for kitchen sink sprayers and hookup lines.
It works well over bolt action and other 3/8" tubes as well. No casting required. Just paint your tubes, cover with epoxy, insert and pull the braid tight. Wipe off the excess epoxy and let dry before trimming. I think the texture feels great to write with also.
Looks good, and great match with the component plating!
Never thought of walmart as a plumbing supplier. Will have to look.Last time I found it was at a Walmart
Oh there are some interesting patterns in that. If I was a label caster that would be worth experimenting with.First the pen is beautiful congratulations on that.
Am I missing something here, I buy this stuff in a roll by the foot. Copper, stainless, brass. It comes in fiber as well lots of colors. Or is this different stuff.

Absolutely different material. This is a weave of thicker material. It is so thick that on most pen tubes it is the same thickness as what is needed to finish a pen. If used on other pen tubes you will have to make a spacer blank to fill the void because it will not be thick enough to meet the components evenly. if that makes sense. What you linked is a thin weave and needs to be built up or clear cast over. That is why for those that use this always refer to it has that tactile feel. Sierra Vista kits come to mind as well as Majestics and kits like that. they need spacer.First the pen is beautiful congratulations on that.

Well spank me, I did not know that. Thank you for that John. Who da thunk? Come here and learn something new. I just assumed it was the same material and clear casting over it was by choice.Absolutely different material. This is a weave of thicker material.
