Anyone else get a chance to see it.

Being a 3rd grade math and science teacher I have always been a shuttle geek. The kids also love it. I show them videos for my force and motion unit.

Looks like everything went well. How cool would it have been to see them turn a pen in space. Ribbons and chips floating all around ya. Do you think you could get a good CA finish in space. You would have to apply it from the bottom of the pen and have it float up.:clown:

Wouldn't miss it …
I still hold my breath the first couple of minutes. I attended the NEA convention the summer of 1985 and had the chance to meet Christa McAuliffe, after she addressed the delegates as the 'first teacher in space'. I was teaching a 5th grade science (Cornell Hts Elementary / Dayton, Oh) class Jan 28, 1986; watching the liftoff with my class.
The summer following Christa's husband, Steven McAuliffe, addressed the delegates with the message 'Do not allow the Challenger disaster the space program'.
Sad to see the final launch of a shuttle without a replacement craft to carry workload …

I can usually see them from here in St. Cloud, Fla., but today the cloud cover prevented that. I have seen many of them since moving here in 1987. I even went to the Cape to watch a night launch back in the late 80's. It was an overwhelming experience hearing, seeing and feeling the liftoff. I will miss them.

did i read correctly that this is the last shuttle launch ever?

Yep, that is correct. Another dumb a@# decision by our elected leaders. And now, the United States of America has to go to the USSR and pay THEM to take our people and payloads into space. I am just flabbergasted by this decision. I just don't know what to say. Like the saying goes, you can't fix STUPID!!!

I did watch the launch and it was beautiful as usual. I only regret that I never got to go see a launch live. That has to be absolutely exciting! Guess it has to come off my Bucket List now.:frown:

I watched this morning's launch via the internet.

Years ago, I lived in Witer Park, FL. We used to wander out into the middle of the street in front of our apartment building to catch the night launches.

Many a time when the twin booms alerted me to a shuttle coming back...
