So I got this goofy idea to make my wife a hinged wooden compact mirror. It turned out to be quite a challenge for me. After a couple of false starts in trying to come up with a workable approach, and a broken attempt after figuring out an approach, I should have thrown in the towel. Being somewhat dense, I persisted and finally made a crude but workable compact. I think I can do much better with practice but am not sure it's worth the effort.

- I agree, a lot of work went into that compact project.

- never throw in the towel ... use what you learned and move on to the next version or incorporate what worked/didn't work and you can use it on the next project.

Nice first attempt, you have to start somewhere.

Regarding worth the effort, that is totally up to you and what you are doing with them. If they are gifts to a loved one, its time invested in showing you care.
