YES the Nova 1624-44 !!!!!

Wha-Who !!! I am happy to have gotten it. I walked in to the local Woodcraft on the right day. Recently had gotten some money and told the wife I needed a new lathe otherwise she wasn't going to get anymore turnings I made. The salesman and manager at the Woodcraft, Tigard OR. Gave me a deal. They extended the sale price (which ended 3 weeks ago) and I got it for the $899.00. I guess the Nova's only go on sale in Nov. and originally he said that the Dec. catalog was out already which meant it technically was now $1,200.00 again. Plus they gave me a couple of the $10.00 coupon cards from the mail flyer to knock off a little for the new SuperNova2 chuck.

Picked it up this morning and had the neighbor friend help me because there was no way you can put it together by yourself (almost 300lbs) . So I thought I would share my excitement.

Thanks for reading.

Boy ... that looks nice!!!

I'm jealous on two fronts .... the lathe and that you have a "local" Woodcraft store.
Sure wish they would open one up this way.

Now go make something nice for your wife!

And now you will need the 20 inch band saw to feed it --- and 220 volt service to help it start easier, and it is just one thing after another...

You will grow to love that little dial that changes the speeds -

And treat that lady really really well -- sounds like you have a good investment there also!!!!

I have the same lathe with the exception I built a shelf that is mounted on the legs below it to give it more weight. An 80 lb bag of concrete and as many bricks as I could fit added quite a bit of stability. I found that the extra weight helped when turning out of round pieces. You might think about it if you turn any larger pieces.

Excellent lathe. I love mine!! I am sure you will love yours also!!

THANKS EVERYONE ! I already love it. I'm only waiting on one piece though, the threaded insert for the SuperNova2 chuck. They were out an had to order one in. So I should get to pick that up Tues. or Fri.

PTownSubbie....I'd like to see a pic of the shelf you built. I have actually been thinking about adding a little extra just in case. Any ideas would be great to see.

ThX again !!!
