I have friends who have had Sherlines and their only significant complaint is that almost all of the accessories are proprietary. [8D]

I use taig, a competitor -- Sherline is nice with some good functinality. You will now be able to do your own metal work and sharpen pen mills.

P.S. This is another slippery slope that will suck up time and money.

Ron I have a Sherline 4500 that I use for pens and love it.
I did upgrade mine and powered it with a 1/4 hp DC motor which really makes the machine awesome. I buy parts from Lee Valley they seem to have just about anything I have needed.
