OK guys, I know some of us have our trade secrets on who we deal with BUT Let's see if we can share some sources, in these days of poor economy everyone is looking for a deal. Maybe we can find some new stores to deal with that are not big box outlets. I would rather deal with a MOM & Pop outfit if I can, of these Woodturninz is my favorite.

I use these guys:

Penn State Ind
Rockler
Woodturningz
Woodenwhimsies
Woodcraft
Klingspore (only because I can drive there & save shipping)

Well let me think a sec about who I've done business with and found it a pelasure to deal with ... Smitty's, Timberbits, LauLauwoods, Woodpenpro, Exotics and locally my Woodcraft store...

I don't turn many pens but the last few things I've got came from Exotics. Don't deal with anyone else really and I trade for kits and blanks.

For those north of the border penblanks.ca has a selection that's getting wider and wider. They carry baron and Sedona nib sections, which few do. And they distribute a beautiful catalog, with beautiful pictures, which comes with a separate sheet with all the prices, so you can show to potential costumers.
Also if you register to the email listing they have a special every week

I don't buy wood blanks and get all my bone antler and ivory in raw form. The only company I deal with anymore for materials and kits is Exotic blanks! Looking for a new tool co as I am sick to death of getting raped on shipping and being treated like an inconvenience rather than the reason the operator has a job!

If anyone knows where I can get some black cactus blanks, please let me know

Which cactus are you looking for? Cholla or "original cactus blanks"?
The skeletal style..not the Cholla

I have tried

Give Curtis (turntex) a call - use number on website. I think he said on IAP that he has been traveling. Try a light/clear cactus blank and reverse paint it with black. I does a great job of showing off the cactus skeleton and Curtis makes the best ones.

I buy all the supplies I can from vendors and individuals on here. For the things I can't get here I go to "outside" vendors.

Carl

A little bit from most vendors but I like Exotics and more recently starting to order from Timberbits. David gave me a call one evening (same time zone) to how I liked everything....very cool of him.

I agree with Carl, buy most of my things from the people who belong to the IAP.

+1 Im with Jim on this as well I mostly use members
Manny
JohnnyCnC
Wood-n-Whimsis
Exotics
Smittys
Wolftat
And many others on here with goods to sell, I have never been done wrong or had a issue that wasnt resolved with a quickness with IAP vendors!!!

maybe there should be an IAP vendor list or do I not find it doing search function, I too would rather deal with the IAP members if I can.

I have always had excellent service from IndyPenDance.

Great prices,products & shipping is only a dollar,and it's always shipped fast.

My favorite has always been WoodnWhimsis but I have started using Woodturningz with good results. I am going to try some of these others I have seen noted here so great topic.

I've used several to date.

PSI
CSUSA
Berea
Exoticblanks
Lazerlinez
Woodturningz

And I'm spreading out and trying more of the IAP suppliers as I can justify purchasing more materials. So far I've been quite happy with all I've listed.

ETA: Opps, I forgot to include IndyPenDance and Rockler
