I'd like to try my hand eventually at doing some segmenting. The ones that catch my eye the most seem to involve cutting a lot of very small sements. What would be some basic tools needed to pull this off while keeping ones fingers intact. I own a 10" tabletop bandsaw, a belt sander, a basic scroll saw and a mini lathe. That's about the extent of it for my shop.

Check the new library index that is listed near the top of the home page of this site. There are multiple tutorials about segmenting. However, when you do look them over you will find that most of them call for table saws or radial saws. I do segmenting on a scroll saw, bandsaw and rigged up disk sander. Someone may be able cut straight enough lines to do great segmenting on the equipment I'm trying to use, but not me. I haven't been able to match the high quality segmenting in the tutorials with the equipment I have available.

I've made segmented pens using only my 9" bandsaw and my lathe. Its not as hard as you think with a good blade. My fingers get no-where near the blade.
