Last year was pens for Christmas, so this year it is reversible screwdrivers (for the men, the ladies probably would not be all that excited to receiver them ...)
Here are my first attempts using segmented blanks I made. The ferrule on the long one is a piece of copper coupler, the other is a drilled out copper cap.
Woods used in total (not on each) are maple, walnut, purpleheart, bubinga, padauk, jatoba.
Finish is EEE cream, followed by friction polish. The copper ferrules were buffed with 0000 steel wool.
The screwdrver mechanism was a plastic handled screwdriver from Home Depot (Buck Bros. brand, $2.99). I used a bandsaw to cut the socket end of handle off, and then two lengthwise cuts into the plastic using a Dremel tool to free the socket for the bit holder.
