This is my first try at a segmented pen. It's walnut and black locust with pink ivory accents. I made a few mistakes and learned a few lessons on this one. First one being, don't try to watch NCAA basketball while you glue up a pattern because you won't pay attention to your pattern. Also, I didn't count on the grain of the black locust picking up so much of the walnut dust. Live and learn. Thanks for looking.

Fred, next time try wiping down the blank between grits with mineral spirits.. I have found that it helps take the sanding dust out of the open grain lighter woods.. does not work for all woods, but for most...

OH BTW, the pen look great... really nice job...
 
Interesting pen, a lot of work to make the segments. The pink ivory was not to hide any blood stains was it? I would probably have a piece of a thmb hanging of the clip.
