I decided to dip my toes in the water and try to sell some segmented pen blanks. Looking online, it seems, there are not a lot of places to purchase quality segmented blanks. I added 12 Celtic knot blanks and 12 peace symbol blanks to our Etsy shop. $24 each, free shipping, USA only at this time. Pictures show samples of completed pens. Do you guys think I'm asking too much for these? I have a guy on Facebook giving me grief about it. Between Etsy's fees, supplies and shipping, I'm only netting about $15.00.

For the time, effort, materials... $24/with shipping is very reasonable. Those that understand segmenting will appreciate your price point. Those that do not, well, will do not. $15.00 net is very thin. I know you do this because you enjoy it, but to be price critiqued is not necessary. Oh; nice segmenting Ken! :p

Thanks Mark. I do enjoy it and that's exactly why I thought I'd try selling some. Pens don't sell that fast, so I thought why not sell some blanks so I could continue making them. If they don't sell, so be it. You don't know until you try. People don't seem to understand that Etsy gets a cut, listing fees as well as transaction fees, shipping on top of it too. I have to buy wood, glue , etc.

Is $24 shipped too Much? Absolutely not.

Heck, I thought it was 24 plus shipping and that sounded like a very fair price to me.

Are you kidding.? To me I would tack on another $10. I have been a member here for a long time and I see hundreds of people come here and sell blanks and some are way over priced. Not going to go down that road but when dealing with segmented blanks there is alot more that goes into making them then cutting up boards and sell 5" X3/4" wood blanks. But I have said many times here, if you want to make money in the pen business sell blanks and not turned pens. You will do alot better.
