Sealing open grain woods & lacquer

Guys, what do you use on open grained woods like Paduck? I have been using deft spray lacquer and am thinking about the dipping lacquer, but this still does not solve the "cracks" left by the open pores. Is there a filler or sealer that I can use that will fill this in, but not ruin the wood?

I first use Deft Sanding Sealer and then a few coats of thin CA prior to the lacquer coats on grains such as this.

Thanks, I will give that a shot. How is it applied? Is it a paste, liquid? Do you sand it off??

It's a liquid. I use a folded paper towel.
