My version of a scratch awl for a challenge by the ASWT club. The wood is Makore and the material for the metal part was a 1/4" hex head bolt. I counter sunk the hex head into the wood so the Awl could be hit with a hammer to be used as a punch also. The ferrule was made from the cap end of a 30-06 shell casing. I friction polished the handle with the wood shavings for my finish.

I have also been re-handling some of my shop tools - very fun.

Your Awl tool looks too 'purty' for me to even consider whacking it lightly with a hammer. Very nice.

Thanks for sharing.
