Scissor Sharpening on a Stone

I watched several YouTube videos. Some said to slide the beveled side toward you and other said, ALWAYS away from you - as in NEVER toward you.

I sharpened 2 pairs by drawing the blades toward me....they got sharper. Later on, I watched more videos and they said NEVER do that (it didn't appear for safety reasons.)

What is the general practice?

I set the angle with the edge away from me and draw the scissors towards me when using a stone.
