I'm not a computor guru by no means so we'll get that out of the way first.
I was wondering, is there a way to save certain threads or post for future reference here on this sight without copy and past to another file.

May be a stupid question with an easy answer, but refer to first sentence.

Right above the posts is thread tools.... Click there and click on subscribe.

Then later you can come back and go to "User CP" and see your subscribed threads.

What i thought, easy solution. I had seen that but thought it was for something else and never clicked on it to see.
Thank you Alphageek

If you ever decide you want to save them other than on here, use can use Evernote (free download) and the Evernote Clipper (free browser plugin) and save them to Evernote.

With Evernote, you have access to all your saved files on your computer (PC or Mac), your iPad or other tablet, your iPhone or other smartphone and on the web so you can use someone else's computer. I have about 320 files saved to Evernote of which about 265 are about woodworking with almost 200 of those dealing with penturning.

Great place to keep all your references in one place.

Is that something like a zip drive?
Or like having a file and saving the threads to that file that you can view it from anything that will connect to the web.
Thank you

No. A Zip Drive is a physical hunk of technology. Evernote is software.

And yes, it is like saving a file and being able to view it anywhere you can get access to the Internet. However, it is even better in that if you don't have Internet access but you have your tablet or smartphone and you have recently synchronized your account, you have all of your files available anytime, anywhere.

I do this as well, plus I can get to my notes on my smartphone. Which is pretty handy when I'm out in the garag, er, shop and covered in shavings. SWMBO usually takes a dim view of me tracking wood particles into the house to check something on the computer.

AWESOME TIP!!! I've had Evernote (along with box, dropbox and some others) on my iPad and PCs for some time. I've seen and used the Outlook link but never explored the browser options.
