so I received this beautiful piece of redwood lace, prepared a dayacom statesman, turned the cap first. Wow. Amazing grain. Really pretty stuff. So I started on the pen, BOOM! Blow out. Grrrr.
I sat and sulked for a long while, then gathered my thoughts and didn't want to throw the cap out, was just too nice (plus it wasn't cheap)

So I used the remaining offcut of it, cut a piece of an old m&m's bucket as a spacer, used up a nice offcut piece of curly cottonwood and voila!
Good save? 25 coats of CA to give it a nice gloss
