I'm done paying $4 for three sheets of sand paper (320 and 400 grit) at Home Depot.

Where can I get good sandpaper in bulk?

Thanks

Martin

One of the members of my Local AAW group introduced us to a sandpaper about threee months ago - We only meet once per month - I purchased a box of 3" rounds 50 pc per box of 220 - 320 - 400. The paper Is the VERY BEST I have ever used.
I can't recall the name of it - I will need to at the box when I am in the shop tomorrow. I plan on buying the other few grit papers at this Saturdays meeting 80 - 180 and perhaps another depending on whats avaiable.
It was not exactly cheap but I can tell you from experinece I get at least 4X if not 5 or 6X of use from this paper then any other paper I have used - and I have tried all the big name normal brands.
Sorry I can't recall the name of it - I sound pretty dumb telling you great it is and I can't even tell you what IT is....
The 50 count box was about $30 or $32 - I use it on wood -super soft to super hard it works great. I also use it to rough sand acrylics, M3, metal - basically any and everything I have been 110% satiesfied with it.
He sells the boxes of 50 or he also sells a sample baggy that includes a few pieces of each grit for $25 or so?
I will have a name brand for you this time tomorow - If you are interested I can purchase some for you at this Saurdays monthly meeting. Perhaps the sample bag for this month and then decide if you want the boxes of 50. He may also break the boxes in half - but the better per piece price is the box.
PM me if you are interested in additional info.
If this is any indication I won't bother purchasing any other type of abrasive in the future, I think that highly of it.

I won the Abrasive combo pack from CSUSA during the bash and really like it. I don't think that I'll run out anytime soon. I cut one inch strips from each roll and figure I'll get about 75 strips from each roll. There are 6 different grits running from 80 to 400 and the sandpaper seems to be pretty high quality. (It's definitely better than the stuff that I was buying before.)

I think I'll have enough 240 sandpaper for life... :)

I like the hook & loop backed Stearate rolls (it has the loop, not the hook). I cut off 10" lengths and it's real easy to grip, has plenty of body and lasts soooo long. I use 120, 240, and 320. Then I finish out with MicroMesh.

Don't let the paper stay in one place long at all. I pull it under the turning and use two hands to pull it back and forth while the lathe is turning full speed.

I second Chris' suggestion. I've been using Industrial Abrasives for a long time and highly recommend them. Their paper is made in Portugal and is quite good for the price.

I use the Premium Rhyno AO for wood and the Silicon Carbide wet/dry for plastic and metal. I very seldom use it wet, though.

I've been getting 180-1200 from harbor freight at 1.99 / 7 sheets. cut in to 3/4" strips and then into 3ds. Get the sheets that are Dark Grey or Black the yellow stuff falls apart. They also carry the rolls of pre-cut narrow (3/4" I think) up to 400 if you want that.
