Hello all, i want to use tung oil to finish a pen i am working on and i was thinking about thinned shellac at first. But what about thin ca? Is it a good option? Cheers
Suggestion: before you turn the blank all the way down to size, test the finish(es) you're thinking about. Get the blank round, try a finish, and then turn it off. Don't have to do all the steps, but enough to assess the likely result. You can probably test multiple different methods before you get close to final size and can then decide which you liked best.No thats the thing i have just one blank and its my first time working with such a wood. I dont mind a bit of darkening etc.
That's a great idea!!Suggestion: before you turn the blank all the way down to size, test the finish(es) you're thinking about. Get the blank round, try a finish, and then turn it off.
