Hi guys
I have a quick work visit to San Diego coming up in June....at the Naval base.
As my visit is so short, if I get time, what should the one thing I shouldn't miss be?
Thanks in advance.:)

Lots of touristy stuff around, but Coronado Island is nice. So is Old Town and the Gaslamp District. Plenty of good restaurants in those areas.

Forgot about old town. Oldest continuously operating cigar store in the USA is there. And other neat stuff, too.

If you go to Old Town, you absolutely have to eat at Cafe Coyote. They make handmade, fresh tortillas right in front of you. For a Midwesterner born and raised, those tortillas were life-changing. I'll echo the support for the USS Midway Museum. You might want to also check out the Gas Light District if you're into the city night-life.

Thanks for the suggestions, gents. I've done work on new aircraft carriers before. This time its to fix a bit of our kit on one of the new ultra cool destroyers. Really looking forward to it.
It seems I'll be spending more time travelling than actually working though.

I second the Midway Museum, but be prepared to spend a good 2-3 hour ( I recommend more ) if you are wanting to take the guided tour. The docents are well knowledged in the ship's history, most all being veterans themselves.

Here's another opportunity: if you go a bit up north, you can find some of the best wood porn up in Solano Beach:

From there, you can explore Cardiff By The Sea, see the Kook, and enjoy a meal at Urban Pi.

Coronado Island is great. I haven't been there in years (45) and I know it's change a lot. U.S. Navy SEAL (BUD/S) is conducted on the island so you might see some of the training exercises taking place. Always fun to watch and they might let you join in and get sandy.
