Salvaged from the wood pile

This is some spalded maple I found when cutting firewood. Dryed it in a microwave. Need to find a beter finishing method that won't turn the worm holes and the white wood so dark for better contrast.

Dick, those are beautiful! Not sure about the price, but seems to be in the right neighborhood, especially if the people in your neighborhood are willing to pay it!

If you are using a clear, glossy polyurethane I'm not sure why the wood is darkening significantly. Did it change color after you microwaved it or only after you applied the poly? Maybe someone else can chime in with an alternative. As for the price, that really depends on your location and the clientele that you sell to. It certainly doesn't sound high.

That looks spectacular. I buy Maple for firewood too. At least a dozen logs get cut up on the bandsaw for pen blanks!

My thinking is $150 is on the lower side of a good price. maybe would have gone $175. very nice work and matching that spectacular of a wood. very nice.

This is only the second set Iv'e made and were sold to someone I know. Also no nice box to go with it. Marketing is my downfall.
