This is a salt cellar made out of Chinese Pistache crotch. Finish is walnut oil and local beeswax. Photo taken by my wife.

That is a beautiful piece of wood and a very nice turning.... I do a few salt cellars for my booth at the Farmer's Market, but I use glass lids, haven't tried the sliding swing away lid yet.... I use the cut off bottoms of wine glasses for my lids.

@TellicoTurning I really like those. Do you leave the stem and just place the wooden handle over it?

Yes, I cut the stems about 3/4 to 1 inch above the bottom (depending on the length of the stem on the original glass). I turn my handled to fit over the stem and try to taper the hole so it fits close to the bottom of the lid. They seem to sell fairly well.

The rest of the glass I use to make wine glasses with wood stems.
