We got lucky in Cincinnati - it was going to close, but corporate took over and reopened.

And to double our luck, there is a really good Rockler within 1/2 mile of the Woodcraft

They said the owners would move some stuff to the other 2 stores they have, new table saws, new lathes etc. They had a rikon bandsaw and a jet mini lathe that was used in the class rooms i would of liked to of stayed and bought them and some other things.
Going to miss that store, it was my get-away for an hour or so when we visited Towson, MD.

Sad indeed, especially for MD natives in the area. But let's be honest here, does the term "competitive pricing" ring a bell ??? Let's face it WC stores are not necessarily known for their reasonable prices and/or realistic sale-bargains. Sort of like "Rockler" for those who are on-line savy !!! Still, it was better than nothing as a last alternative.

I'm near Harrisburg PA. Is this the same owner? I can't remember where they said the other stores are.

Sure, a lot of the stuff is not cheap, but there else can you go to get turning tools / supplies etc closely? Nowhere for me. No rockler around here.

IMO the sale prices are often more than decent. I'm always tempted by something on the sale rack.

The pen kits are a few dollars more than many of the discounters, but if you want to make an atrax rollerball and don't have a kit, $11 gets it done.

Very sad indeed. A couple years back my wood supply store closed. It wasn't a woodcraft but carried lots of exotic woods and turning supplies. Now it's Internet shopping. :(

That is sad to see. For me it isn't the case. I live in one of the latest cities in the country so my local woodcraft is up and running just fine. They even moved o a bigger store a few years ago.
