I looked for an existing thread that addressed my issue but could not find one. So here I go.....
I just bought a Ruth Niles Bottle Stopper mandrel and initially loved it. In the past I tended to strip the threads I cut and rarely successfully completed a BS on the lathe because the blank was spinning. I was thrilled that I was able to turn a beautiful stopper, sand and finish it. The thrill went away when I could not remove the blank from the mandrel. It was so tight, it would not move.
I finally resorted to removing it with locking pliers and marring the wood.
I tried another time and he same thing happened...stuck!!
Any tips???
I know candle wax is an option.
I bought Niles's stubby drill bit - it is 5/16". What if I drill with a 21/64" bit. It would only be 1/64" larger?
What about a 11/32 bit - only 1/32 larger??
Any help would be appreciated.
