Here is a fun quick project. I bought a rocker blotter from J Herbin and it was a bit disappointing so I decided to make my own.

1. Decide on the size (I did 3 x 1 3/4" to fit the Herbin blotter paper)

2. Cut a top plate and rocker section to size.
Top plate I made from 1/4" and the rocker from 3/4"

3. Cut rocker to shape (I used a Proxxon micro band saw)

4. Tape two pieces together and mark center.

5. Drill pilot hole to suit whatever size bolt you want to use
Drill through top plate and about 1/2" into the rocker.

6. Install threaded insert into rocker and drill top plate to bolt dimension.

7. Make up a blank for the knob, drill and tap to accept bolt and turn to desired shape.

8. Install bolt into knob, set with a touch of thin CA, cut off bolt head and dress threads.

9. Sand and finish as desired (I used lacquer).

10. Fit the paper and you are done.

Hope this is of interest, It is fun and quick and works great if you use a fountain pen.
