Rikon Mini Lathe

Woodcraft has the Rikon Mini Lathe model 70-100 on sale for $269.99 that plus my 10% birtday discount puts in under $250. Does anyone use this or have an oponion on it. I curently have the Delta 10" Midi late which is ok but would like a little nicer one. I would turn the Delta into a Buffing machine.

i think you will find out that that birthday discount is not good on sale items.

Looks like that will be my Birthday present next week. Now to get my sons to go out and pick it up, bring it home and set it up in my shop for me then I will be good to go. They will. Just getting over surgery so I can't do any of that stuff for while, but I can turn.

Yeah...I have one to and its great!! I used to have a 42 in delta and I prefer the rikon.

I started out with one. When I upgraded to my Nova I liked my Rikon so well I kept it to.

I have the Rikon and think it is a great lathe. I have made over 2,000 pens with it with the only problem being that on/off switch went out on me and Rikon sent me a new switch, free of charge. I now have it hooked up to a extension cord with a floor on/off switch and use that to switch the lathe off and on. I find this really convenient and will never have to replace the on/off switch again. Great lathe.

When I worked at Woodcraft we sold three to one rikons to jets.
Never had a rikon come back. Can't say that about Jets.

I have one that I've beat to death and it keeps running. I'm on my second belt. Only thing I don't like is the locking handles can break.

But Rikon, keeps sending me new ones for free. Even after the Warrantee has lapsed.

I don't even remember how old it is. I've had it since they first came out with this model.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. But what I want is the EVS.
