Rherrell Toolrests

I have this system for my current lathe but haven't been using it for a while. Since the last time I used it I lost the brass colored ring that goes between the post and the rest. Could i still use it safely with this piece gone?

But, for me, I love his tool rest -- and I don't see the brass piece being critical.
I could be wrong, though.

I don't think it will hurt anything but it won't be "purdy" anymore!:biggrin:

As long as it's tight it shouldn't be a safety issue.
