I'm in need of a revolving tailstock adapter to mount chucks on the tailstock and found some on Ebay. Does anyone have one of these and, if so, is it a well made item? I'm a little leary of how well it will hold up to spinning a 4 jaw chuck. Any other sources? Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Could you post an auction number so we could see what you are considering/ Thanks.

Installing a chuck on the tailstock is a little unusual. Care to tell us how you are using it or is it a secret?

Scott ....

PSI has one. Here's the link.

But, read the following PSI description carefully:

This unique adapter allows precision centering of spindles or dowels at the tailstock end. Also, it provides the ideal system for the mounting bowls for hollowing; after turning the outside of the bowl blank, turn a tenon on the bowl bottom. Then mount your chuck to the tailstock adapter; grabbing the grabbing the menon with the chuck while still attached to the faceplate. When the chuck and blank is remounted on the headstock, your bowl will be perfectly centered. 1" x 8tpi mount & #2MT shaft.

Get it?
:D

Hhmmm, that would actually be rather useful for holding jam chucks. Luckily the LC on my Mustard Monster has threads on it so I just make them fit that. But this might be worth loking into. Thanks, Al! See, we say good things about you... sometimes.[}:)];)

My original use was for Pentel pencils. I'm expounding on Dons great method by making a chuck-held tailstock bushing instead of a jam fit tailstock bushing. It will center better and reduce chatter and slipping (I hope). It's either this or a revolving Jacobs chuck, but I figured this would have a wider range of uses. Then I realized there quite a few other uses as well. Thanks for the links.

I just ordered a 1 x 8 tap so I can thread hardwood or plastic and make all sorts of screw on mandrels, bushings, jam chucks ect. A guy with a metal lathe could make all sorts of cool stuff to put on it.
