Very nice display case. I make quite a few of these and would only give you one small piece of advice. Miter joints on their own are relatively weak. I always use splines cut into the miter to give them strength. If you Google spline miter jig, there are videos on how to accomplish this. As an 18 year military veteran myself, I know how important these are for the recipient and I would hate to have a corner blow out because of a weak joint. Keep up the good work on these, I know how special they are.

the flag i am afraid to unfold, it is a oldfla afraid it may fall apart and won't fold back up.

Dave each corner has 2 splines in it about 1" in from the front and back.

I normally use contrasting wood but since this was to be stained they blend in and hard to see.
