What is the cleanest/easiest way to take apart a centerband (say, a Gent or Jr. Gent II) to replace the contrasting stripe with something else? I was able to get one off, but in the process I damaged the plating on the parts I wanted to keep. Obviously, I need a better technique. I thought I'd seen it discussed here at IAP, but I haven't been able to find it by searching.
