Good morning!

I tried to search for the answer but I guess I'm not using the right keywords because couldn't find what I was looking for. I apologize if this is redundant.

I accidentally got CA on the gold finish of a pen I made. The pen has 10K gold plating. What chemical or process could/should I use to remove the CA so that it doesn't damage the gold plating?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

CA is dissolved in acetone. Handy to have around.

Acetone will not disolve gold. Many of the gold pens have a clear coat surface applied, and the acetone may dull the clear coat slightly.

Some of the gold plate pen hardware are top-coated with an epoxy finish (due to the low wear resistance of gold plate alone). I do not have an answer to your question, but enter this comment as it is a factor to consider. Ken also addressed this in his post.

UPDATE: I used acetone and it worked beautifully. I did not see any change to the gold plating so all is well. Crisis averted! Thanks for the suggestion.
