Removing CA from Gold Titanium

I had a CA accident and some spilled on the center band of my gold titanium Perfect Fit pen. Is there a safe way to remove this without harming the gold titanium or black painted trim in the center band?

I would think the gold titanium is slippery enough to get a piece of acrylic and chip it off by hand. I do that on real titanium all the time. The painted surface would be more of a challenge.

i clean up bushings al the time by soaking in acetone. This would work fine for the Titanium Nitride, but probably would remove the paint.

It ended up being a loss. I tried several different methods and almost had it scraped off with a razor blade. In the end it was obvious something was spilled on it. As luck would have it the nib wasn't machined out properly either so when I dropped the Parker refill into the lower barrel it dropped an 1/8" deeper than it should. As a result the transmission didn't function properly. I emailed Ed at Arizona Silhouette who put me in contact with Larry at Berea. Larry was great. I explained to Larry the problem with the nib, and told him about my CA accident. Larry is sending me a new nib and a new center band free of charge. Great guy to talk to and what great service.

I do this all the time, as I get a bit messy at the assembly line.


Take a rag with lacquer thinner or acetone on it and very gently swab the CA away. Takes a bit of time, and you CANNOT touch your blank with the rag or it will dull up the sheen of the resin or finish.
This has worked on everything I've used, including black "chrome" epoxy.
