Very nice! So I assume you have to turn the blank down to just about the right size first, then engrave, then...sand and finish?

I have a small NEJE laser engraver with a jig attachment that spins the pen blank as it engraves to allow for the arc of the circle the blank is turned in. This jig also accommodates bottle stoppers.

But I turn the blank, sand it, do an oil treatment and then load it into the engraver. Once engraved I put it back on the lathe and sand with a 800-1000 grit paper to knock off rough edges and then use Doctor's Woodshop Pens Plus as the finish. Usually 3-4 coats.
