I am fairly new to pen turning and have seen some videos of people recycling HDPPE and turning pen blanks. I have tried some but cant seem to get the finish that I need. Does anyone have any input or is it a waste of time?

I seen a video on it awhile ago. My opinion there's not to much promise in it. Glue wont stick you cannot use brass tubes, as you know finishing isn't very good. One of those things that might be fun to give it a shot, but I don't think there's any longevity in it.

I have seen a couple of people who ha done this. It's a great Idea, however, it is a bit of work to even get one blank made.

The only way I have got the brass tube to hold is run a 5/16 tapp in it and use JB weld. It is a try but not very productive. The finish is terrible too. Thanks
