This started with a piece of cypress that had been a victim of a fire. Small pieces were stabilized, then cast with orange tinted Alumilite. The charred surfaces were left intact.
This is a no-press Executive kit in gun metal.
The wood came from a sawmill in Cocoa, Fl. The pen matches up nicely with a bar top that was made from wood from the same sawmill.

Certainly, once you can stabilize and cast, the world opens up to you. No longer do you have to depend on someone else to create nor do you have to pay a lot. There are untold amounts of beauty that can come out of scrap. And there's always that surprise factor.
